Small Business Internship Program

The Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) offers paid internships to college students in the state of Georgia.

The Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) offers paid internships to college students in the state of Georgia. The GEF has partnered with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the Atlanta area and Georgia’s business community to match up high-potential college students with career development opportunities at local small businesses. Students are assigned to a small business that is aligned with the student’s major area of study. The business owner commits to be a mentor and lead the student’s professional skills development, to provide exposure to entrepreneurship as well as the corporate clients with whom they do business. Corporate sponsors share in the cost of student salaries, so that the SBIP internships can pay very competitively.

“Minority students are often excluded from traditional corporate internship opportunities, which can cause them to miss out on valuable professional learning experiences prior to graduation. The MBIP closes that gap and gives students a head start on their futures, as they graduate much better equipped to start their own businesses or join an existing firm.”
